    Choose your PDFs

Pick one or more PDFs from your device, or drag them in. They load straight into your browser's memory — they are never sent anywhere.

  3. 02

    Set your crop box

Drag the edges or corners of the box on any page preview. The shaded area outside the box is what gets cropped away, and every page you choose shows the same box. Drag inside the box to move it. On a computer you can also drag on the page to draw a new box, and on a phone you can drag the small square handles. For exact amounts, use the Left, Right, Top and Bottom sliders or type a number. Choose which pages to crop, such as every page except the cover, or choose Selected to give each page you click its own crop box. Use See All Pages to check them all.

How it works

  • Choose one or more PDFs, then set your crop box. Nothing is processed until you click Crop PDF.
  • The preview on each PDF shows the crop box on the page you are looking at, with the part that will be cropped away shaded. With See All Pages unticked, each PDF shows one thumbnail with page arrows, and a note tells you when a page is outside your page choice. The thumbnail opens on the first page that gets cropped.
  • The box is saved as a percentage of the page, so it lands in the same place on every page, whatever its size.
  • Text and vector graphics are never turned into images, so the original text stays selectable and searchable.
  • Each result is checked against its original before you can download it. If anything differs, no file is produced for that PDF.
  • See All Pages is ticked by default, so every page of each PDF shows as a grid of small thumbnails. Use the two icons beside it to switch to a vertical list of large pages, which opens at 150% zoom on a computer and fits the screen on a phone. Change the zoom with the + and − buttons. Large pages are the easiest place to drag the box exactly.
  • Untick See All Pages to show each PDF as one small thumbnail instead.
  • With two or more PDFs added, the Jump to PDF menu above the files shows which PDF you are on and scrolls straight to the one you pick.
  • Download one PDF on its own, or all of them together as a ZIP.
  • Nothing is uploaded. Once the page has loaded, it keeps working offline.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is my PDF uploaded anywhere? No. Cropping happens entirely in your browser. Your file is never sent to a server, so it stays private.
  • How do I choose the area to keep? Drag the edges or corners of the box on any page preview. The shaded area outside the box is what gets cropped away. Drag inside the box to move it. On a computer you can also drag on the page to draw a new box. On a phone, drag the small square handles. You can also type exact values for Left, Right, Top and Bottom, and the box on the preview follows.
  • Is the same crop used on every page? Yes, unless you choose Selected. The box is saved as a percentage of each page, so every page you choose is cropped by the same amount from each edge, even when pages have different sizes or are rotated. Choose Odd, Even, First, Last, Skip First or Custom under Pages to crop only some pages.
  • Can I crop each page differently? Yes. Choose Selected under Pages, then click each page you want to crop in the preview. Every clicked page gets its own crop box, which starts as a copy of the last box you set, so you can adjust it for that page. Click a cropped page again to change its box. Pages you do not click are left as they are.
  • Will the text stay selectable and searchable? Yes. Pages are never converted to images. Cropping only changes how much of each page is shown, so the text and vector graphics inside the visible area are untouched.
  • Is the cropped-away part deleted? No. Like most PDF croppers, this tool changes the visible page area and leaves the rest of the page data in the file. The part outside the box can no longer be seen on the page, but it is still in the PDF file, so a PDF editor or a text search may still find it. Do not rely on cropping to hide private information. To remove sensitive content for good, use a redaction tool.
  • Will the file get smaller? Usually not by much. Because the hidden part stays in the file, the file size stays about the same. If you need a smaller file, run Compress PDF on the cropped result.
  • Can I crop several PDFs at once? Yes. Add as many PDFs as you like, and download them together as a ZIP or one at a time. The same crop box and page choice are applied to every file, and each PDF is cropped from its own first page. With Selected, each PDF crops only the pages you clicked in it, each with its own box.
  • Can I set an exact amount to crop? Yes. Left, Right, Top and Bottom each set how much to cut from that edge, from 0 to 90 percent of the page. Use the slider or type a number. Each page must keep at least 5 percent of its width and height.
  • Will the crop look right on rotated pages? Yes. The page rotation is taken into account, so the box covers the part you see on the preview, whether the page is upright or turned.
  • Which PDFs are not supported? Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. Digitally signed PDFs can be cropped, but rewriting the file invalidates the signature.

What happens to your PDF

  • Visible area: cropping sets each chosen page to a smaller visible area. In the saved PDF the page is exactly the size of your crop box, so it opens, prints and shares at that size in every PDF viewer.
  • Hidden content stays in the file: the part outside the box is no longer visible, but it is not deleted from the PDF. This is how most PDF croppers work. A PDF editor, or a text search in some viewers, may still find it.
  • Not a way to hide private information: if a name, number or image must not be shared, use a redaction tool instead of cropping.
  • File size: because nothing is removed, the file stays about the same size. Run Compress PDF afterwards if you need it smaller.
  • Rotated pages: the page rotation is taken into account, so the box covers the part you see on the preview.
  • Pages with an existing crop: if a page was already cropped in the PDF, your box is placed inside the area that was visible, not outside it.
  • Pages of different sizes: the box is a percentage of each page, so a big page and a small page are cropped by the same share, and they end up different sizes.
  • Pages you leave out: pages outside your Pages choice are not touched at all.
  • Left alone: text, fonts, photos and vector graphics are never changed. Links, bookmarks and forms stay as they were.
  • Safety check: the result is opened again and compared with your original, covering text, page count, page size, rotation and links. Each cropped page must have exactly the size your box gives. If anything differs, no file is produced for that PDF.

How to get the most out of it

  • Use big pages for precision. Switch See All Pages to the vertical list and zoom in, so each drag moves the box by a small amount.
  • Check a busy page first. Crop with the page that has the most content in view, so you do not cut anything off by mistake.
  • Trim scan edges. For scanned pages with dark borders or scanner shadows, pull each edge of the box in until the border is shaded.
  • Remove wide margins. Crop the empty space around text to make the content fill the page on a phone or e-reader.
  • Different crop for odd and even pages. Choose Odd, crop and download, then run the result again with Even and a different box.
  • Crop pages differently. Choose Selected under Pages, then click a page in the preview and set its box. The next page you click starts with a copy of that box, so similar pages only need small tweaks. Pages you do not click are not touched, and Reset Crop Box removes the crop from the page you are editing.
  • Keep the cover as it is. Choose Skip First under Pages to leave the cover untouched.
  • Do many at once. Add all your PDFs together and download them as one ZIP. Remember that the same box is used on all of them.
  • Keep your original. Cropping can't be undone in the saved file, so keep the uncropped PDF if you might need the full page again.
  • Know the limits. Password-protected PDFs can't be cropped, and digitally signed PDFs lose their signature when rewritten.

How it compares with iLovePDF

  • Privacy: iLovePDF uploads your PDF to its servers and deletes it automatically after 2 hours. Here nothing is ever uploaded. Your PDF stays on your device.
  • Crop options: iLovePDF's crop tool lets you drag to select the area to keep, and apply it to all pages or only the current page. This tool also has a draggable box and a Selected choice that gives each clicked page its own box, and adds exact Left, Right, Top and Bottom percentages and page choices such as Odd or Even.
  • Batch: the crop applies to every PDF in the batch, and each PDF is cropped from its own first page.
  • Limits: this tool needs no account, has no daily limit and adds no watermark. Your device's memory is the only limit.
  • Offline: this page keeps working offline once it has loaded, and can be installed as an app from your browser.
  • What iLovePDF has that this doesn't: a large set of other PDF tools, such as merge, split and convert. This page does one job only.
  • Trade-off: a different crop for each page needs Selected, where every page is clicked and set one at a time.

How it compares with other popular PDF crop tools

  • Smallpdf: works in the cloud and deletes files after one hour. It can crop one page or the whole document, and free use has usage limits. Here there is no upload and no limit, and you can also set exact margins and choose odd or even pages.
  • Adobe Acrobat: its online Crop PDF tool uploads your file and asks you to sign in with a free Adobe account. Its help page says the cropped file is saved to Adobe cloud storage. It lets you apply the crop to all pages or a page range.
  • PDF24: its online tool uploads your files and deletes them within one hour, and it is free with no watermarks. You can set each edge on its own or adjust the cut visually on a page preview. Its free PDF24 Creator app works offline on Windows.
  • The main difference: these sites process your PDF on their servers, so it has to be uploaded first. Here it is processed inside your browser, which matters most for contracts, ID documents and other private files.
  • Trade-off: a cloud service does the work on its own servers, so it can handle extremely large PDFs more easily. Here, very large files depend on your device's memory and may be slow on a phone.
  • Note: these details come from each service's public information as of October 2026 and can change.
