How to Resize an Image Online for Free

  1. Select or Drag & Drop Photos: Choose one or several images (JPG, PNG, WebP, and more) from your device, drag them into the workspace, or paste with Ctrl/Cmd + V. Click a photo in the row to edit it, or use See All Photos.
  2. Choose How to Resize: Select By Percent to scale it up or down, By Pixels to set the width and height in pixels, or By Width or By Height to change one side and keep the photo’s shape. In a hurry? Tap a quick size like 1920 × 1080, 1080 × 1080 or 512 × 512.

Enlarging a photo beyond its original size cannot create new detail, so it is best to make images larger only as far as you need.

  • Are my photos uploaded to any server? No. Your images never leave your computer or mobile device. All resizing happens locally within your web browser using client-side JavaScript.
  • How do I resize an image to exact pixels? Add your photo, choose By Pixels, turn off Keep aspect ratio, then type the width and height you need. If the new shape differs from your photo, choose whether to stretch it, fit the whole photo with padding, or fill the frame by cropping the edges.
  • How do I resize an image by width or height only? Pick By Width or By Height and type one number. The other side is worked out automatically, so the photo keeps its original shape and is never stretched.
  • How do I resize an image without losing quality? Reducing dimensions uses high-quality, multi-step resampling so details stay sharp. Save as PNG for no compression loss, or choose JPG or WebP with the Quality slider near 100. Making a photo larger than its original size cannot add real detail, so enlarge only as much as you need.
  • How do I make an image 1920×1080, 1080×1080, 512×512 or another common size? Add a photo, choose By Pixels, and click a size button: 1920 × 1080, 1080 × 1080, 512 × 512, 300 × 300, 200 × 200 or 192 × 192. The photo is resized to exactly that many pixels. If your photo has a different shape, choose Stretch, Fit or Fill under When Shape Differs.
  • What image formats are supported? The tool opens the standard web image formats your browser supports, including JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF (an animated GIF uses its first frame). Resized photos are saved in the same format as the original when that is JPG, PNG or WebP, and as PNG otherwise. You can also choose PNG, JPG or WebP yourself.
  • Does resizing remove EXIF or location data? Yes. The resized file is created fresh by your browser, so camera details and GPS location from the original photo are not carried over.
  • Does this tool work without an internet connection? Yes. Once you open the web page in your browser, you can turn off your internet connection or go offline, and the image resizing will continue to work seamlessly.
