Why use this tool

Saving a new phone number just to send one text is unnecessary, and after a while your contact list fills up with numbers you'll never message again.

This free tool lets you open Apple's Messages app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac without saving a number first. Enter their phone number, and Messages opens with that number ready to go, so you can send an SMS, RCS message, or iMessage, whichever your device and theirs end up using.

Important: This tool cannot force a message to go out as iMessage specifically. Apple's Messages app decides that automatically depending on the recipient's device and settings; this tool only opens the composer with the number filled in.

How to use

  1. Open this page preferably in Safari on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
  2. Keep the "Phone number" tab selected (or switch to "Email address" if that's what you have). Then type or paste the recipient's details. Select the correct country first if it's not already set.
  3. Optionally, type a short message you'd like the chat to open with.
  4. Tap "Open in Messages" (or, if enabled from the Menu, "Message on WhatsApp"). This opens the relevant app with a chat to that number, without needing to save it as a contact first.
  5. Send your message inside the app, or simply leave the chat screen if you change your mind. Nothing is sent unless you tap send.

That's it. No app installation, no contact-saving step, and no account required.

Instructions to install this on your phone

This page works as a PWA (Progressive Web App). Add it as an app on your iPhone or iPad Home Screen to open it quickly and even use it without Internet.

Steps: Make sure you're viewing this page in Safari. Tap the menu icon in the address bar → Share → Add to Home Screen → Add.

Fully private, safe, and secure

This tool works locally and entirely inside your own phone or computer browser. The phone number, email, and message you type are never sent to us or stored on our website's server. We can never see them.

By default, this tool does not remember any numbers or emails you use. If you turn on "Show Recents in Future" from the Menu, your browser will start remembering your last 5 used entries. This list is stored only on your own device and is never transmitted anywhere, including to us. You're always in full control, and you can turn this off or clear this list at any time. Make sure to clear it if you use it on a shared computer, like one in your college library.

Note: The optional message you type is never cached to the browser.

FAQs

Does the website owner see the number, email, or message I type?

No. Everything happens in your browser only. Nothing is transmitted to this website's server, so there's no way for us or anyone else to see what you type.

Does this guarantee my message sends as an iMessage?

No. This tool opens Apple's Messages app with the recipient pre-filled, using the sms: link that iOS supports. Whether that message actually sends as iMessage, RCS, SMS, or MMS is decided automatically by the Messages app, based on the recipient's device, network, and settings. A website cannot force iMessage specifically.

Will this work on Android?

This tool is built for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. On Android, sms: links usually open that phone's own default messaging app instead. If you use it on Android, do not type anything in the "Message (Optional)" field.

Will this work on Mac?

Yes. Both the Phone Number and Email Address features work on Mac running macOS 27. Please make sure you are visiting this page in Safari. Also, ensure you have set up iMessage and the Messages up on your Mac.

Can I use an email address instead of a phone number?

Switch to the "Email address" tab above the input field. Apple's Messages app can sometimes start a chat using an email address if that email is registered for iMessage.

Which email addresses are supported?

You can enter any email address, be it @icloud.com, @me.com, @mac.com, @gmail.com, @outlook.com, @yahoo.com, @hey.com, or @customdomain.com. The tool will work as long as the person you're trying to text has registered the said email address with iMessage in their Apple Account and Apple Messages app settings.

Why didn't Messages open when I tapped the button?

This usually means you're not on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, or your browser is blocking the sms: link. Some in-app browsers, inside social media apps for example, also block custom link schemes like this one. Try opening this page in Safari on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac directly. Also, tap Open or Allow in popup if asked.

Is this tool free to use?

Yes. It's completely free, with no sign-up, no installation, and no hidden limits.

Do I need to know the country code to use this?

No. Just select the country from the dropdown menu, and the tool automatically applies the correct code before opening Messages. This isn't needed at all if you're using email mode.

Can I message on WhatsApp too, or is this Messages-only?

Both. Turn on "Enable WhatsApp support" from the Menu to reveal a WhatsApp button alongside Open in Messages. WhatsApp only works with a phone number, not an email address, so its button is hidden while you're in Email mode.
