What's great about Image to PDF

    • Private: your images never leave your device. They are read, placed on pages and saved right in your browser.
    • JPG photos go into the PDF exactly as they are, with no recompressing. PNG pictures stay lossless.
    • You choose the page: the size of each image, A4 or Letter, with the orientation, margin and fit you like.
    • You see the finished pages before you create the PDF, and you choose their order.
  2. 01

    Add your images

    • Choose or drag in JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP files. Add more at any time with + Add More.
    • Each image becomes a small thumbnail at the top. Click a thumbnail to go to its page in the preview, or click its small X to remove it.
    • If an image cannot be read, its thumbnail turns red. Remove it to carry on.
  3. 02

    Put the images in order

    • Drag a thumbnail to a new place. On a touch screen, press and hold it first, then drag.
    • Sort puts the images in order of file name. Numbers count properly, so 2 comes before 10.
    • Reverse flips the order.
  4. 03

    Choose the page

    • Page Size: Fit to image, A4 or Letter. Orientation: Auto, Portrait or Landscape (for A4 and Letter).
    • Margin: None, Small (18 pt) or Big (36 pt). Fit: Contain keeps the whole image on the page, Fill covers the page and crops the edges.
    • Drag an image on the preview to place it. With Fill it chooses which part shows, and with Contain it chooses where the image sits on the page. On a touch screen, press and hold it first. Center Images puts every image back in the middle.
    • The preview shows every page as it will be in the PDF, in order, and follows your choices as you change them, without being made again. Use the minus and plus buttons to zoom.
  5. 04

Name it, create it, download it

    • Type a name in File Name, or leave {name} to use the first image's name.
    • Press Create PDF, then Download. If you change an option or the order afterwards, press Create PDF again.
  6. 05

    Not done yet?

    • Compress PDF makes a large PDF smaller.
    • Rotate PDF turns single pages, and PDF Page Numbers adds numbers to the pages.
    • PDF Watermark stamps text or a picture on every page, and Password Protect PDF locks the finished file.

How it works

Your browser reads each image. JPG and PNG files are placed in the PDF as they are. Other types (WebP, GIF and BMP) are drawn on a canvas and saved into the PDF as PNG. A GIF gives its first frame.

Phone and camera photos often carry a hidden note about their rotation. PDF viewers ignore it, so a JPG that is not upright is turned and saved again as a JPG at 92% quality. The stats say how many images were re-saved. This depends on your browser reading the note, so it is best effort. Check your pages after you create the PDF.

Pictures that have to be drawn this way are limited to about 16 million pixels. A bigger one is shrunk, and a line under the thumbnails says so. Original JPG and PNG bytes are not limited by this.

The preview is drawn with the same page layout the PDF uses. Each page is made once, and a change to an option updates the pages in place. Create PDF then builds the real file.

When the PDF is finished, it is opened again and checked: it must have one page for every image, and each page must have the size your options give. If the check fails, no PDF is made.

Frequently asked questions

  • Are my images uploaded anywhere? No. Your images are read, placed on pages and saved inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
  • Which image types can I use? JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP. A GIF gives its first frame. Whether a type opens also depends on your browser.
  • Why does my iPhone photo not load? Photos in HEIC or HEIF format are not supported by most browsers. Export them as JPG first. For example, choose Most Compatible under Settings > Camera > Formats for new photos.
  • Will the PDF be smaller than my images? No. Pictures are placed as they are, so the PDF is about as large as the images together. Use Compress PDF afterwards if you need a smaller file.
  • Why were some of my photos re-saved? A photo from a phone or camera can carry a hidden note that says it should be turned. PDF viewers ignore that note, so such a photo is turned upright and saved again as a JPG. The stats tell you how many were re-saved.
  • Is there a limit on how many images I can add? This page sets no limit, but very large images need a lot of memory, especially on a phone. If the page slows down, create the PDF in smaller batches.
  • Can I move an image on its page? Yes, when there is room to move it. With Fill, drag the image on the preview to choose what is cropped. With Contain, drag it to place it where you like. The PDF uses the same position. Center Images puts every image back in the middle.
  • Can I turn one image sideways? Not in this version. Create the PDF, then turn its pages with Rotate PDF.

What happens to your file

Nothing is uploaded. The PDF is made in your device's memory and saved by your browser. When you close or reload the page, everything is gone. Once the page has loaded, it also works offline.

How to get the most out of it

  • Name your files 01, 02, 03 and so on, then press Sort, to get the order right in one click.
  • Use Fit to image for scans and screenshots, so every page has exactly the shape of its image.
  • Use A4 or Letter for printing. Contain shows the whole image. Fill leaves no empty space but crops the edges.
  • iPhone photos in HEIC or HEIF format are not supported by most browsers. Export them as JPG first.
  • Very large images need a lot of memory. If the page slows down, add fewer images at a time.
  • Pictures are placed as they are, so the PDF is about as large as the images together.
